Solo Show: Yasmina Assbane

25 – 28 April 2024
Prime Section, Booth 6D-04
Halls 5 & 6, Place de la Belgique 1, 1020, Bruxelles

Anca Poterasu Gallery is delighted to present a solo exhibition by Yasmina Assbane, whose artistic practice is deeply rooted in the daily banality and material life of familiar objects primarily attributed to women. They are emptied of their primary function through dismantling and symbolic reconfiguration strategies to challenge the stereotypical assumptions of the gaze. Fragile, graceful, and mysterious materials such as glass, mirror, and fiber are the insertions of a feminine imaginary, deconstructed and reassembled in a system of “fortification” all own. Exploring the concept of femininity between subject and object, the artworks appear as feminist, sensual andsubversive. This dialectical approach is the language that creates space for new perspectives and narratives.

Expanding on the themes explored in the solo exhibition, we have created a viewing room that features a deeply personal, sensitive and sensual dream space with the works of artists: Aurora Király, Oana Cosug, Iosif Király, Matei Bejenaru, Dragoș Badita, Iulian Bisericaru, and Sebastian Hosu.
